Liberals call for pension reform

A third of Canadians have no retirement savings beyond the Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security and the Guaranteed Income Supplement. Another third don’t have enough retirement savings to keep up their standard of living.

Retirement shouldn’t mean economic hardship. That’s why Liberals are calling for broad pension reforms – like a Supplementary Canada Pension Plan to help Canadians save more, and better protection for those in pension plans of companies that go bankrupt.

The Harper Conservatives have done little to safeguard the future for pensioners. It’s time for the government to make saving for retirement easier and more secure for all Canadians.
